Caraval by Stephanie Garber

Caraval is a YA fantasy novel about two sisters who live on an island with their abusive father. Scarlett and Tells receive an invitation to Caraval, a traveling performance/circus event. Scarlett is to be married soon , but Tells leaves to go to Caraval and Scarlett chases after her. Upon arriving to the island where Caraval is taking place, the sisters are part of an elaborate game. There are elements of magic and romance, and sisterhood.

This book does not exhibit any circus elements at all really. It was poorly written, and the plot wasn't well thought out. I was hoping for so much more from this book. The characters were annoying and I wish there had been more circus/carnival elements instead of what there were.

Updates, November reading, and End of Year reading plans

Its been a hot minute since I've posted here. A lot has happened in my personal life, but we aren't here for that. Let's get to my December TBR, shall we? Winter time usually means Historical Fiction, and Fantasy books for me. November was all over the place and I have been in a slight reading slump. I can't seem to get invested in the books I pick up recently. I participated in 'Non-Fiction November', and started the month off strong, but dwindled as the month progressed. I am currently reading a poetry collection by Lawrence Ferlinghetti called A Coney Island Of The Mind.  and I am going to attempt to begin The Book Thief  by Markus Zuzak as well as Everything I Never Told You  by Celeste Ng. I managed to read 8 things in the month of November.
