This weeks topic is : 5 books you felt betrayed by.
1. The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold.
*spoiler* This is the story of Susie Salmon. She has been murdered and is telling the story from "her heaven". She is trying to lead her family to her killer from beyond the grave. This was a good premises for a story. I was hoping for a bit more from the plot, and it was slow moving. But overall, I thought it was a good story. The part that caused me to feel betrayed was the ending. Throughout the whole book, Susie is trying to point her family in the direction of their neighbor (who raped and killed her) and when the family finally figures out that its him, he takes off, and ends up falling off the side of the road into a ravine behind a convenient store while trying to lure another girl....meanwhile, Sizes body had been placed into a safe and thrown into the town sinkhole where everyone throws their trash, and is never recovered, because his dumb ass falls into a ravine. So not only is the killer not caught, but dying was just too easy of an out for him, and Sizes family can never put her soul to rest because only the killer knew where she was disposed of. Such a ridiculous ending. I was actually really pissed off at the end of this book lol.
2. Heartless by Marissa Meyer
This book was a huge disappointment, unfortunately. The book follows The Red Queen from Alice In Wonderland before she becomes the Red Queen. It tells her back story, and of how she wanted to open a bakery, not marry the King of Hearts. I love Marissa Meyer, and her writing, but this book fell so flat. I didnt like the character building, or how they interacted with each other. Everything kinda felt forced. It just disappointed me all around.
3. Caraval by Stephanie Garner
This whole book was a betrayal lol. It wad marketed as a "circus" type book, and it was far from it. The plot was dumb, the writing was terrible, and there was NO CIRCUS. No performance of any kind. It was a dumb cat and mouse game. That's it.
4. Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy by E.L. James
I liked the first book. That's it. If it would have remained a BDSM type of book and left type romance out of it, would've been a lot better.
5. The Sun Is Also A Star by Nicola Yoon
*spoiler*
This book takes place over the period of one day, and follows two main characters. One is being deported back to Jamaica and the other is trying to live up to his parents' ideas of what a Korean boy should be. The reason I felt betrayed is because. I was hoping for them to stay in touch after she was deported. Instead they went about their lives as if nothing ever happened. Until the very end when they meet up again unexpectedly. The book ends abruptly after the last encounter and kinda felt unfinished.
