Just Finished and Currently Reading
I have just finished a book this morning and I didn't want to go back and throw it into my August wrap up post, so, here it is!
Lady Killers: Deadly Women Throughout History by Tori Tefler
This is a non fiction collection of stories about various female serial killers throughout history. The range from her in the USA to Egypt and Russia. Tori Tefler examines the myth that men are the only ones given the title of "Serial Killer", and that women are often times excused from their crimes because certainly women are "weak-minded" and they are only capable of "killings of passion". WRONG-O! The women in this book are sadistic, they are cold, they are deranged and they can do just as much damage (if not more) than their male counterparts.
I gave this a 3/5 Stars because most of the stories involved some sort of use of their sexual prowess to lure these unsuspecting men into their lives, and then poisoning them and collecting their money. Now, there are women in here who killed children with no remorse or second thought simply because they didn't want that responsibility. The children were "burdens" and needed to be dealt with. Some of these women got pity, some got burned alive at the stake. Some were hanged and some died of illness in their old age, rotting in a jail cell. But the one thing that they had in common was that they were all ruthless and psychotic, looking to be wealthy or in power.
(3/5 stars)✭✭✭
Larceny In My Blood: A Memoir of Heroin, Handcuffs and Higher Education by Matthew Parker
This is in graphic novel format!
Night Film by Marisha Pessl
Lord of the Flies by William Golding
This I am reading for the Momento Mori Book 2 Film Club started by Adam from @MomentoMori on Youtube. #mmb2fc
And Finally, I have been taking my time with this last one because there is an insane amount of stories and I want to give myself time to enjoy all of them. That is:
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
I have 2 volumes of the complete novels and short stories and a separate volume called The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes
I am enjoying reading these stories thus far and I am happy that I did not put a time frame on myself to ingest these stories :)
