A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness

A Monster Calls is a semi-fantastical story about a boy named Conor.  His mom is terminally ill and he is forced to live with his grandmother. Only,  him and his grandmother do not get along. Conor's father moved quite a distance away and has a new family, and Conor feels like he is alone. One night,  a tree shows up at Conor's window and takes him on a journey to teach him a lesson about grief and acceptance and finding peace within yourself.
This is a dark, semi fantastical tale.
I read this book fairly quickly and I would recommend it to anyone who has had to deal with grief and depression.
Conor is a great character.
I gave this book
4/5 ⭐on Goodreads.
